CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) — Anxiety grows for vacationers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport as nationwide flight reductions spark delays and cancellations.

Friday marked the beginning of the FAA’s mandated flight reductions, affecting 40 airports nationwide, together with Charlotte Douglas International.

The FAA has said the reduction is supposed to make the skies safer as the federal government shutdown continues and because the company experiences air site visitors management staffing points.

A 4% discount in flights started Friday and can enhance step by step, reaching 10% by subsequent Friday.
