143 Yerevan Schools Restrict Use of Mobile Phones and Other Gadgets

YEREVAN, November 17. /ARKA/. 143 of Yerevan’s 151 faculties have already enacted rules proscribing using cell phones, tablets, and different good devices, reported Margarit Khachatryan, Head of the General Education Department of the Yerevan City Hall.

“The program (to restrict the use of gadgets) has already been developed and implemented in Yerevan’s general education schools. It has been proposed for implementation in all schools, along with a corresponding circular, taking into account the necessary legal framework and mechanisms for disseminating information to both students and parents,” Khachatryan famous at a working assembly at City Hall on Monday.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan considers this a vital initiative, and the college principals’ perspective towards it’s encouraging.

“International studies show that banning and limiting smart gadgets in schools has a significant positive impact on the educational process, children’s overall mood, and grades. We must further conduct research on the results of these restrictions in Yerevan schools, using numerical indicators,” Avinyan stated.

The restrictions on using good gadgets in faculties, initiated by the Mayor’s Office, embody a ban on college students in grades 1-6 utilizing cell phones which are turned on throughout classes, breaks, and occasions.
