Spiders Place Amongst High 10 Nationally in Graduation Success Rate

RICHMOND, Va. — Spider student-athletes earned their undergraduate levels or transferred from Richmond in good educational standing at ranges that rank among the many highest in all of Division I athletics, in response to the newest information launched Wednesday by the NCAA. 98 p.c of student-athletes coming into Richmond from 2015-16 by way of 2018-19 earned their diploma inside six years, matching the University’s highest price for the reason that introduction of Graduation Success Rates (GSR) in 1998.
 
Richmond’s 98 p.c Graduation Success Rate is tied for ninth highest amongst all Division I establishments, trailing solely Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Marquette, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and San Francisco. UR and Davidson are among the many eight faculties to report Graduation Success Rates of 98 p.c, tied for one of the best among the many 14 faculties within the Atlantic 10 convention.

Because of this, we should take a moment to appreciate how uniquely situated we are in collegiate athletics.”

 

Richmond’s 98 p.c GSR is properly above the nationwide common of 90 p.c. 11 of Richmond’s 15 varsity sport applications (cross nation, indoor monitor & area, and outside monitor & area groups are counted as one program for the needs of the GSR) achieved good 100% GSR rankings: baseball, area hockey, males’s basketball, males’s cross nation, males’s golf, males’s tennis, ladies’s cross nation/monitor & area, ladies’s golf, ladies’s lacrosse, ladies’s soccer, and girls’s swimming & diving. All of Richmond’s 15 applications achieved GSR rankings of 86 p.c or larger. 

The GSR differs from the federal graduation-rate system in that the GSR components in switch college students who go on to graduate at a distinct establishment and doesn’t penalize faculties for transfers who go away in good educational standing.

Each spring, the NCAA releases a separate set of information, referred to as the Academic Progress Rate (APR), which measures each educational efficiency and retention.
