John Edward Schelby Jr., age 83, handed away on November 19, 2025, together with his beloved spouse, Dorothy, by his facet.

John was born on June 30, 1942, in St. Marys, Ohio, and had made Cordova, TN his house for the previous 29 years.

John was preceded in dying by his organic father, John Edward Schelby Sr., who was killed in motion throughout World War II; his “Pop,” Shannon Carmean; his mom, Lila
“Dolly” Carmean; and his sister, Beverly Perez.

John is survived by his devoted spouse, Dorothy (née Seewer). Their love story started with Dorothy’s first—and solely—first date, celebrating their sixtieth wedding ceremony anniversary on
October 16 of this yr.

He can also be survived by his youngsters: Laureen (Danny) Hill of Defiance, OH, Donna Schelby (Patrick Demers) of Beverly Hills, MI, Wade (Elizabeth “Liz”) Schelby of Staunton, VA, Wade’s sons, John’s grandsons, Logan and Stephen Michael; and his siblings Rebecca “Bec” (Dave) Dircksen of St. Marys, OH, Linda (Larry) Verhoff of Ottawa, OH, Vicki (Mike) Egbert, of St. Marys, OH and brother-in-law Ray Perez, Lemont, IL.

John served proudly within the United States Marine Corps from 1961 till his honorable discharge in 1967, together with time stationed in Hawaii. The values he carried from his
service  — dedication, loyalty, and quiet energy — remained central to who he was.

A gifted and passionate woodworker, John discovered pleasure in creating items that will develop into treasured heirlooms. Every desk, dresser, and souvenir he crafted was
thoughtfully made and lovingly shared together with his household. These items stand as enduring reminders of his creativity, generosity, and the care he put into every little thing he did.

John grew up in St. Marys, Ohio, and after marrying Dorothy, the couple purchased their first house collectively in Coldwater, Ohio. In 1976, they moved to Defiance, Ohio, for a
new profession alternative, and finally settled in Cordova, Tennessee, the place they constructed a heat and welcoming house.

John can be remembered for each his devotion to household and the legacy he leaves behind—each within the tales he shared and the craftsmanship he handed down. His presence can be deeply missed, and his reminiscence without end cherished.

Services can be held on Saturday, November 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, 210 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, OH. Visitation will happen from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, adopted instantly by the funeral service. The committal ceremony, with full miltary funeral honors, will observe on the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
