Obituary for Patricia Powell | Peacock Funeral Home & Crematory

Patricia Ann Powell, 82, of Chadbourn handed away peacefully at her dwelling on Friday, January 2, 2026. She was born January 22, 1943 and adopted by her grandparents the late George Oliver Hardie and Flora Ophelia Nobles Hardie.

At a younger age she attended and performed piano at White Marsh Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Whiteville. After marriage to her husband Rev. Jerry Earl Powell she turned a very long time member of Spring Branch Holiness Church. She was a pianist, Sunday School Teacher, youth chief and held many places of work within the church. Along together with her husband, they did mission work in Haiti and Dominican Republic since 1974. She was  a loving spouse, a treasured mom, and the very best Grandmother. She was additionally a religious influencer and advisory to many household and mates all through the US, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

She is survived by her son, Mark Powell (Kathy) of Chadbourn; daughter, Sabrina Grant (Marty) of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Kevin Powell, Lisa Powell, Emily Cartrette, Natalie Memory, Kimberly Hunt, Ryan Powell, Nicole Burkhalter, Mike Powell, Jessie Powell, Chris Powell, Emily Grant and twenty Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in demise by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Jerry Powell; her grandparents; her sons, Michael Powell, Timmy Powell; her brother, Douglas Eugene Hardie.

Her funeral service will likely be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Peacock Funeral Home’s Chapel with the Rev. Larry Dyer and Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will observe in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.

Her household will obtain mates Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Peacock Funeral Home.
