Burkina Faso’s international affairs minister, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, signed a press release citing related causes for the ban of US nationals coming into the nation.

The two nations be part of the record of nations banning U.S. vacationers amid worldwide tensions and U.S. journey reform.

Niger, which is also in West Africa, has imposed a reciprocal ban. The Central African nation of Chad has imposed restricted entry.

According to a Dec. 16 proclamation from the White House, the bans on Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso went into impact Jan. 1.
