Video: Monroe County Swimming Championship 200 Relay
Dundee nips out Erie Mason-Ida to win the 200-yard freestyle relay on the Monroe County Boys Swimming Championships on Saturday, Jan 25, 2025.
Cameron Tross of Erie Mason-Ida was the Monroe County Region Swimmer of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
He has graduated, leaving the door open for a brand new winner this winter.
Judging from earlier meets this season there are quite a lot of strong contenders for the award this 12 months.

Returning state qualifiers: Seniors JR Hess (50 freestyle, backstroke), Owen Cooley, Aaron Brewer; juniors Chandler Gossiaux, Chris Hurst; sophomore Mason Edelbrock.
Other prime performers: Kylor Freshour.
Season outlook: Hess positioned ninth on the state finals within the backstroke final season and Brewer was sixteenth in diving.
Coach’s feedback: “We are a small team this year and we hope to develop our young swimmers and return to the state meet.”
ERIE MASON-IDA
Coach: Andy Mosley, eighth 12 months.
Returning state qualifiers: David Mills (50, 500, two relays), Brenner Nelson (50, 100, two relays,) Bowie Jacobs (relay), Mason Reynolds (two relays), Jared Tunison (relay).
Other prime performers: Senior Robert Otting; sophomore Brandon Tross.
Season outlook: Mosley believes his crew can defend its titles within the Monroe County Championships and SMISL White.
Coach’s feedback: “We have some big shoes to fill from last year’s senior class but I think the younger boys can do it.”
FLAT ROCK
Coach: Jacob Mouro, third 12 months.
Returning state qualifiers: None.
Top performer: Senior Jon Devoy.
Season outlook: Devoy is the captain of a younger squad. The Rams graduated six of their 13 swimmers from final season and have simply eight on the roster.
Coach’s feedback: “We can be in the category of a building year. Our goals are simply PRs (personal records).”
GIBRALTAR CARLSON
Coach: Amy Hulderman, eleventh 12 months.
Returning state qualifiers: Seniors Jace Starll (diving), Owen Keith (50 freestyle, butterfly).
Other prime performers: Seniors Donovan Randazzo, Dean Mathei; junior Dylan Cain; sophomores Conor Raftery, Jack Dunwoody, Wyatt Taylor; freshmen Owen Lancaster, Brody Boyd.
Season outlook: Hulderman and assistants Beth Stoney and Ellen Strawsine are enthusiastic about their mixture of returning expertise and promising newcomers.
Coach’s feedback: “We have a large team of 26 swimmers with lots of raw talent. I can’t wait to see how they develop and improve all season. It’s going to be a great year.”
MILAN
Coach: Dan Heikka, twenty first 12 months.
Returning state qualifiers: Tadas Zukovskis, Cameron Garcia, Jameson McShane.
Other prime performers: Dylan Nichols, Caleb Furlong, Alex Markham.
