Swimming and Diving Earns Two Weekly Conference Awards

IRVING, TX – The Tulane swimming and diving group acquired recognition this week, incomes two weekly awards from the American Athletic Conference, the league introduced Tuesday afternoon.

Andrea Zeebe Named American Swimmer of the Week

Junior Andrea Zeebe was acknowledged for her excellent performances since December. Over the previous month, she was the group’s high level scorer on the UNLV Invitational and on the quad meet towards Wisconsin, UC San Diego, and UCLA in the course of the vacation break.

At UNLV, Zeebe secured wins within the 200 backstroke and 400 IM, positioned second within the 100 backstroke and the 800 free relay, and completed third within the 200 IM, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay. During the quad meet in California, she competed towards a few of the greatest within the nation regardless of not sporting a tech swimsuit. Eliza Lennox Named American Freshman Swimmer of the Week

Freshman Eliza Lennox was the group’s high freshman level contributor at each the UNLV Invitational and the quad meet in California.

At UNLV, Lennox claimed victory within the 50 free and earned third-place finishes within the 100 free, 100 fly, 400 free, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay. At the quad meet, she competed towards top-tier competitors and not using a tech swimsuit, ending first towards Wisconsin, second towards UC San Diego, and fourth towards UCLA within the 50 free. She additionally completed fourth within the 100 free throughout all three colleges, positioned fourth within the 100 fly, and took third within the 200 free relay.

These accolades mark the fourth and fifth time a Tulane swimmer or diver has earned an American Conference Weekly Award this season, and the fifteenth time over the previous two seasons. Lennox beforehand acquired the Freshman Swimmer of the Week honor on Nov. 18.

Recent Competition Recap
On Jan. 3, the Tulane swimming group competed towards UC San Diego, Wisconsin, and UCLA on the Canyonview Aquatic Center in La Jolla, California, on the ultimate day of coaching in San Diego. The Green Wave achieved 11 top-10 finishes in the course of the meet.

Upcoming Schedule

Next, Tulane hosts the Mardi Gras Invitational from Jan. 16-17 on the Reily Center Natatorium, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday. The Senior Day festivities for the group’s six seniors begins at 2:40 p.m.
