Artist Statement
Over-explaining these still-life photographs would diminish the purposeful under-explaining they supply. They are impressed by relationships between individuals, and other people and the atmosphere. The ambiguity fuels an emotional response. Large gaping voids are left between function and understanding, focus and air, line and floor. Beauty emerges from locations unfamiliar to the expertise. The roadmap to understanding is a collage of tattered recollections taped collectively, roughly folded and stuffed into an age-stained envelope, not fairly giant sufficient to carry the contents.
