OBITUARY

SILVA, Florence E. Life time Sonoma County and very long time Sebastopol resident died peacefully at dwelling on December 15, 2003 on the age of 94. Born in Healdsburg on August 30, 1909 to Frank and Ethel McDowell. While rising up she lived in a wide range of locations in Sonoma County. She grad-uated from Analy High School and Santa Rosa Business College. She married Joe Silva on July 19, 1929. In 1938, they opened Silva’s Grocery Store. She is remembered by many adults who, as kids at the moment, attended Park Side School, performed at Ives Park, swam at Ives Pool or did all three. Florence later taught knitting as an grownup training class retiring in 1977. She additionally labored half time at Gadgets and Gifts on the age of 75. Florence was many issues to many individuals: the 1996 Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year, an affiliate member of Autumn Leaves and member of St. Sebastian’s Y.L.I. for over 75 years. She can be remembered by those that knew her as a form and beneficiant individual. Her philosophy of life was that you need to hold smiling, have religion and an excellent perspective, and that you need to love your loved ones as a result of they’re your best asset. She is survived by her daughters, Patty Lennox and her husband John, Marianne Saxe and her husband Gary, daughter-in-law Joyce Silva of Redding, sisters Mary Baldi, Jerry Prather, Alice Politi, brother Charles McDowell; 9 grandchildren, 20 nice grandchildren. She was preceded in dying by her husband Joe, her son Bill and her brother Bud McDowell. Family and pals are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 7983 Covert Ln., Sebastopol, CA. There can be a time of visitation at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY – Sebastopol, 301 South Main St., Sebastopol, CA from 5:00 p.m. to eight:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to take action could contribute in Florence’s title to Heartland Hospice Services, 2455 Bennett Valley Road, Suite B-214, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
