Illinois Opens Spring Season at Spartan Suncoast

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois girls’s golf is heading to Sarasota, Fla., to compete on the Spartan Suncoast Invitational, Feb. 15-16. The event will likely be held on the Palm Aire Country Club.

THE COURSE

The event will happen on the Palm Aire Champions Course. Originally designed in 1957 by Dick Wilson, the course underwent a tee to inexperienced renovation in 2021, led by course architect Michael J. Benusky. The competitors is ready up for a par 72 and can play 6,191 yards.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Both days of play will start with a shotgun begin at 7:15 a.m. CT. Sunday options 36 holes of steady play and Monday will conclude the event with the ultimate 18 holes.

ILLINI AT THE SPARTAN SUNCOAST

The Illini competed on the Spartan Suncoast for the primary time final season, with Victoria Zheng, Brielle Mapanao, and Anna Ritter coming back from the 2025 lineup.
