SMC Student Photography Exhibition Opens March 5 Santa Monica

The Santa Monica College Emeritus Art Gallery will open its 2026 Annual Student Photography Exhibition on March 5, with a gap reception from 5 to six:30 p.m. on the gallery, situated on the primary ground of the SMC Emeritus Campus at 1227 Second St. in downtown Santa Monica.

The free exhibition runs via April 24. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday via Friday. Parking is out there in Santa Monica Public Parking Structure No. 2, adjoining to the gallery.

The present options photographic works by 32 college students and might be hosted by Emeritus Art Gallery Curator Jesse Benson.

“This is the first on-campus Emeritus Student Photography Exhibition in six years,” Benson mentioned, noting that the 2020 exhibition closed prematurely as a result of pandemic, prompting this system to shift to a web-based format. “Moving forward, the beloved annual photography event will rotate yearly between in-gallery and online-only presentation.”

Participating college students are Dian Andrews, Kathleen Battersby, Terry Brown, Dorli Burge, Angela Castellano, Caroline Gerstley, Jim Gerstley, Trude Haas, Kathleen Higgins, Jude, Marilyn Kabakov, Josephine La Rosa, Jebbie Lavoie, Carey Lundin, Fran Lyness, Nol Martín-tungpalan, Cindy Sanchez Mattson, Elaine Maxwell, Howard Meibach, Wendy Miller, Regina Pally, Allan Popelka, Doris Power, Linda Rosman, Karen Sandler, Ganna Shneydina, Nancy Rae Stone, Sandra Strength, Michael Telerant, James Wang, Shifra Wylder and Yvonne Yao.

Founded by Santa Monica College in 1975, the Emeritus program is a noncredit grownup schooling program serving greater than 3,000 college students per 12 months with greater than 120 lessons and particular applications for older adults.
