Headquarters Madison marks two-year anniversary, celebrates enlargement

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Headquarters Madison celebrated enlargement efforts on Saturday, marking two years in enterprise for the native barbershop.

“This is our re-grand opening,” proprietor Ryan “RJ” Connor stated. “We’ve been open for two years now, so it’s also serving as our two-year anniversary.”

From facet hustle to full workers

Connor started slicing hair as a facet hustle in school and is now in his seventh yr as a barber. Over practically two years, the store has grown from six unique staff to fifteen barbers and two stylists.

“We prioritize quality over quantity, and we love to get you in the chair and give you that exact haircut that you came to find,” Connor stated.

An area for the group

Barber Kenny Russell stated the ambiance at Headquarters Madison units the tone every day.

“I’m just excited to see the guys in the morning,” he stated. When everyone is available in, they communicate to the barbers as they arrive in. When everyone leaves, they communicate to the barbers as they go away. It’s only a good power round right here.”

Connor said the shop also serves as a safe space for younger clients, including those getting their first haircuts.

“When I was younger, I got in my trouble,” Connor said. “This is a space where kids can learn that they’re creative outside of having to go through something I did to learn things about themselves.”

He said the role of a barber extends beyond the chair.

“It’s a lot more to being a barber than cutting hair,” Connor said. “It’s literally a full lifestyle.”
