Video gaming platform Steam faces authorized proceedings

09/03/2026, London, England – The Performing Right Society (PRS) has commenced authorized proceedings towards Valve Corporation in respect of its use of PRS members’ musical works on the ‘Steam’ platform with out permission.

After having sought to license them for a few years with out acceptable engagement from Valve Corporation, PRS issued authorized proceedings towards Valve on 4 March 2026. Valve Corporation individually faces a £656m lawsuit within the UK over alleged unfair costs on its international online retailer, Steam, following a tribunal ruling that the case might proceed.
