World Aquatics Foundation Launches Emerging Leaders Program

The World Aquatics Foundation this week announced the formation of its Emerging Leaders Program. The initiative is designed “to empower” swimmers aged 14-18 “to become advocates for water safety, environmental responsibility, and positive community engagement.”

The World Aquatics Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the game’s world governing physique, is partnering with Ian Zhang’s WeSwim and Rowdy Gaines’ Step Into Swim program. They and others will provide “structured mentorship, educational masterclasses, and opportunities to implement projects that address water safety, community development, and sustainable practices.”

“Drowning prevention is a cause that is deeply personal to me,” Zhang mentioned. “This program offers a platform for young leaders to collaborate, learn from one another, and take meaningful action in their communities. Through peer-to-peer development, these Emerging Leaders will not only enhance their skills but also promote water safety as a critical life skill.”

“Swimming has the power to transform lives and prevent tragedies,” Gaines mentioned. “Through Step Into Swim, we have worked to make swimming accessible to all. The Emerging Leaders Program extends this mission to a global audience as these young leaders will combine their creativity, passion, and leadership to make a tangible impact in their communities.”

The Emerging Leaders Program will begin with contributors from Europe, China and the United States, every participating in a one-yar program activated round World Aquatic’s Swimming World Cup occasions.

• Phase 1: Onboarding and Virtual Learning – Masterclasses masking aquatic sports activities that emphasize Olympic values, water security, youth management, digital storytelling, and accountable social media use. Participants obtain mentorship from Ian Zhang, Rowdy Gaines, and different specialists.
