Sen. Sanders praises Youth Chess Day turnout, expertise, enjoyable — Waterbury Roundabout

Dear fellow Vermonters,

This previous Saturday 180 younger folks from round our state joined me and my employees on the Vermont State University in Randolph for our fourth annual Youth Chess Day. It was an amazing turnout and an amazing day.

In the morning, college students new to the sport had the chance to study and hone their expertise from mentors from the UVM Chess Club, Middlebury College Chess Club, in addition to chess specialists Michelle Sagalchik, Eric Hutchins and Trevor Plizga. I thank all of them very a lot for his or her assist.

After lunch, youngsters of all ages sat behind chess units all through the fitness center, shook palms and started enjoying. Quite a sight. 

The winners within the three age classes have been: Wilder Bernstein, Isaac Bloom, Nolyn Combs (1st-Third grade winners). Harsha Chadive, Ava Duzgalski, Henry Gallo (4th-Fifth grade winners). Blake Bentley, Vivek Chadive, William Clere (Sixth-Twelfth grade winners).
