ATLANTA  – The Virginia Cavaliers 400 Medley Relay team had a podium finish on Friday (March 27) at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, being held at the McAuley Aquatics Center in Atlanta, Ga.

Freshmen Thomas Heilman and Maximus Williamson, sophomore David King and senior Matthew Heilman placed eighth in the 400 Medley Relay, posting a time of 3:00.55. The time broke the UVA program record in the event, coming up just 0.21 seconds shy of the American record in the event.

All three of Virginia’s relays have earned All-America honors at this year’s championship. The 800 Free Relay also finished in the top eight to earn first team honors.

The Cavaliers are in ninth place in the team standings heading into the final day of the competition.

The meet wraps up on Saturday with the 200 IM, 200 Fly, 200 Back and 400 Free Relay.

Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with the final session starting at 6 p.m. Both sessions will stream live on ESPN+.

NOTES

  • David King’s leadoff split of 45.05 tied the UVA program record for the 100 Back
  • Jack Aikins swam in prelims of the 100 Back (45.51) and 50 Free (19.33)
  • Spencer Nicholas swam in prelims of the 100 Back, posting a personal best time of 45.28
