Rowing Finishes Opening Day of Rocky Top Invite Friday

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The University of Minnesota rowing staff accomplished the opening day of racing on the second annual Rocky Top Invite Friday from Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Competing at Melton Hill Lake, the Golden Gophers battled towards among the nation’s high rowing applications of their first official motion of the spring championship season. Minnesota turned in a pair of third-place efforts and completed in fourth place 3 times among the many 5 competing boats.

The Maroon and Gold turned in third-place efforts in each heats of the Third Varsity Fours and Second Varsity Fours with instances of seven:40.544 and seven:50.310, respectively, to start out the day. “It was a great effort from all our boats today. We have a lot to work on, but it was encouraging to see how competitive we were with some of the best teams in the country,” Head Coach Alicea Strodel mentioned.
