Trump administration proposes increasing Chinese tech gear crackdown

WASHINGTON, April 3 (Reuters) – The ⁠Federal Communications Commission on Friday proposed to ban the import of Chinese tools from a ⁠group of producers after beforehand barring approvals of recent fashions in 2022, the most recent ‌transfer by Washington to crack down on Chinese-made digital gear.

The FCC had in 2021 added telecommunications and video surveillance tools made by Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision and Dahua to its so-called “Covered List” of firms posing U.S. nationwide safety dangers.

In November 2022, ​the U.S. telecoms regulator determined to not authorize the import ⁠or sale of recent fashions from these ⁠Chinese firms.
