BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M was represented by 102 student-athletes on the 2025-26 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey introduced Tuesday.

“Whether a freshman or transfer, earning a spot on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll is something everyone should be proud of,” Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. “Coming to a new place and finding consistency in the classroom, while competing at a high level is very impressive. I am proud of our staff as well for helping guide our first-year student-athletes in their education.”

The 102 honorees was the second-most in class historical past, behind final 12 months the place the Aggies noticed 105 student-athletes make the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. Overall, Texas A&M noticed 312 people earn a spot on the autumn, winter, spring and first-year honor rolls.

“The release of this year’s First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll is a tremendous reflection of the academic commitment shown by our newest Texas A&M student-athletes Executive Associate Athletic Director – Academics and Student-Athlete Engagement Dr. Dan Childs said. “To earn this recognition, a student-athlete must post a 3.00 GPA or higher across their first two semesters of full-time enrollment — a high bar for anyone, and an especially impressive one for students who are simultaneously adjusting to college life, a new team and competition at the SEC level. These student-athletes walked in and immediately set the tone for what we expect from our program academically. We’re proud of the work they’ve put in, and this achievement is a credit to their discipline, their support systems and the culture of academic excellence we continue to build across the department. Congratulations to each of them on this well-earned recognition.”

The following standards was adopted:
(1) An undergraduate student-athlete should have a grade level common of three.00 or above for both the previous educational 12 months (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade level common of three.00 or above on the nominating establishment. Undergraduate grade level common is probably not included within the graduate level common calculation for a graduate scholar.

(2) If a student-athlete attends summer season faculty, his/her grade level common throughout the summer season educational time period should be included within the calculation used to find out eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll.

(3) Student-athletes eligible for the Honor Roll embrace these receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student-athletes who’ve been on a varsity group for 2 seasons.
