Aim:

Mental time journey (MTT) is a cognitive capability to mentally re-experience previous occasions and anticipate future prospects. Self-related MTT occasions have stronger vividness and sense of expertise than occasions associated to others, i.e., the “self-advantage effect”. This impact is diminished in people with excessive schizotypal traits (HST) who’re in danger for schizophrenia. However, the neural correlates of this impact stay unclear. The current examine aimed to look at this difficulty by resting-state useful magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI).

Methods:

Thirty-nine people with HST and 38 people with low schizotypal traits (LST) have been recruited. They accomplished the self/other-related MTT job and underwent rs-fMRI scanning.

Results:

In HST, the “self-advantage effect” on specificity was positively correlated with useful connectivity (FC) between the correct precuneus and bilateral frontal pole, left temporal pole, and the posterior cingulate cortex, whereas this affiliation was adverse in people with LST. Additionally, the “self-advantage effect” on emotional depth was negatively related to FC between the left precuneus and center cingulate cortex in HST, however positively related in LST.

Conclusions:

People with HST have altered affiliation patterns between the “self-advantage effect” in MTT and resting-state FC. The “self-advantage effect” in MTT could also be a possible goal for intervention within the schizophrenia spectrum.
