Captured Moments: Vanity Fair’s Visual Journey Through 2023

From challenging gravity with Wicked performers Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo at the expansive lots of Universal Studios, to illustrating life on a US Navy nuclear submarine in the Atlantic, and conducting a photo session in the backyard of Kardashian matriarch turned entrepreneur Kris Jenner, Vanity Fair’s photographers dedicated 2024 to capturing the most significant narratives in news and culture. Leading up to the presidential election in November, our photographers were present at the Democratic and Republican national conventions, and on Election Day, they were sent to critical states including Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Nevada to capture images of Americans eager to discover their next president. Later that month, a refreshing burst of glamour arrived with Glen Powell, Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel, Zoe Saldaña, Sydney Sweeney, Josh O’Connor, Danielle Deadwyler, Jonathan Bailey, Lisa, Ncuti Gatwa, and Bill Skarsgård adorning the cover of our 31st annual Hollywood Issue. Regardless of the topic, our photographers presented an immersive visual experience for readers; a vibrant, thought-provoking perspective on the world with each shot.
