The city of Evansville is adding more collegiate championship happenings to its agenda. Explore Evansville has revealed that the National Junior College Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will occur at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in 2027.

This event will signify the first occasion that an NJCAA championship will be determined in Evansville.

“Evansville has evolved into a leading destination for championships, and we’re eager to host the NJCAA in our community,” Aaron King, assistant director of sports development with Explore Evansville, stated in a press release. “The Deaconess Aquatic Center is an ideal venue to provide a remarkable experience for student-athletes and supporters alike.”

The championships are scheduled for March 3-6, 2027.

The Deaconess Aquatic Center hosted the championships for the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the Missouri Valley Conference earlier this year. This facility features the Lilly King Competition Pool, named in honor of the Evansville native and six-time Olympic medalist.

“We are incredibly excited that Evansville has been selected to host the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships,” Jennifer Brown, operating manager at Deaconess Aquatic Center, remarked in the release. “We look forward to highlighting the City of Evansville and the Deaconess Aquatic Center to NJCAA teams and fans, and we’re profoundly appreciative for the opportunity to facilitate such a noteworthy event.”

Explore Evansville did not provide an estimate of the anticipated attendance for the event.
