Tampa, Fla. – Dec. 23, 2024 – Sammie Puisis, a graduate guard for South Florida women’s basketball, has received USBWA National Weekly Honors, as announced by The U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.

Puisis topped all scorers with 23 points, making 3-3 from beyond the arc and 8-8 at the foul line, during South Florida’s 65-56 surprise victory over No. 9/10 Duke at the Yuengling Center on Saturday afternoon. This marked the Bulls’ first win against a Top-10 team since beating No. 7/5 Stanford, 57-54 in November 2021. Puisis becomes the third player in the program’s history to score 20+ points in a victory against an AP Top-10 foe and the second Bull ever to achieve a 100% shooting from 3-point range in a triumph over an AP Top-10 opponent.

Earlier this week, Puisis added 12 points and recorded one steal in USF’s 71-36 success against Northwestern St.
