MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior offensive lineman Wyatt Milum has been named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America First Team, as announced by the organization.
Milum, hailing from Kenova, West Virginia, received the title of Big 12 Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and was selected to the all-conference first-team roster, becoming the 18th Mountaineer to be recognized on the all-time FWAA All-America list. He now marks WVU’s 50th All-America choice since 2002. Overall, the program boasts 113 All-Americans.
This signifies the second FWAA All-America First Team distinction for a West Virginia offensive lineman (Ryan Stancheck – 2007) and the fourth overall in the institution’s history, following Yodny Cajuste (2018) and Tyler Orlosky (C – 2016), who received second-team honors.
Milum’s latest recognition is the fourth (Walter Camp – first team, AFCA – first team, AP – second team) among the five All-America squads included in the consensus team.
Throughout his four-year tenure, he has participated in 47 games, started 43 of them, and has been effective on 2,951 snaps. This season, Milum has played a crucial role in helping WVU secure the No. 9 position among Power 4 universities in rushing yards per game (192.7). Furthermore, WVU stands as one of the two FBS institutions with three players achieving at least 600 rushing yards. In 2023, he contributed to the Mountaineer rushing offense, earning the top rank among Power 4 schools with an average of 228.9 yards per game.
Milum has successfully prevented a sack in 34 of the last 36 games he participated in, not permitting any during the last two seasons. He was recognized as a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy, presented to the nation’s premier interior lineman.
In the year 2024, Milum has also managed to not allow a quarterback hurry, registering only seven pressures. PFF College ranks him as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation with a grading score of 90.1. His run-blocking grade of 84.2 positions him at No. 6, while his pass-blocking grade (89.8) stands at No. 4. The offense has recorded at least 140 rushing yards in 26 of the last 28 games beginning in 2022.
West Virginia shares the No. 10 spot nationally for having 83 rushes achieving 10-plus yards, is tied at No. 8 with 128 missed tackles caused during runs, stands at No. 14 with 1,647 rushing yards following contact, and ranks No. 19 with 141 rushes converting to a first down.
