ORLANDO, Fla. – As the Miami Hurricanes and Iowa State Cyclones prepare for Saturday’s Pop-Tarts Bowl, participants from both squads had the opportunity to unwind and enjoy time with children from the Central Florida area.
The Day for Kids event occurred early Thursday at Fun Spot America Orlando.
This gathering connects local kids, including many from the West Lakes neighborhoods near Camping World Stadium, with athletes from each team for a joyful morning in the amusement park.

Monica Murray attended the event with her three grandchildren and mentioned they have been filled with anticipation for the gathering all week.
“They can’t wait for it,” Murray expressed. “It’s something truly unique for them. They get to meet players from various teams involved in the bowl game.”
Murray’s grandchildren were paired with multiple players, including Iowa State’s defensive lineman J.R. Singleton.
“They are eager to try all the thrilling rides, and it’s exhausting for me,” Singleton joked. “I haven’t been on these attractions in years, but I’m enjoying every moment.”
There were also appearances from the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot and the championship trophy was showcased for photo opportunities.

While all the participants are focused on winning the trophy, Thursday’s occasion was about much more than just football.
“It’s genuinely a privilege, honestly. I think they’re having a bigger impact on me today than I’m having on them,” Singleton shared. “Just getting to embrace my inner child for a while, appreciating them, and there’s nothing else I’d prefer to be doing at this moment.”
Kickoff for the Pop-Tarts Bowl is set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
