Behind the Lens: The Unseen Moments of Hannah Barlow Photography 2024

Greetings, everyone! Happy Friday! BIG SHOUTOUT TO ALL THE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES! We have a few more end-of-year tasks to attend to…and that means…2024 HANNAH BARLOW PHOTOGRAPHY WEDDING OUTTAKES AND BLOOPERS ARE HERE!

It’s a beloved highlight every year, so let’s dive in!

Kicking things off with a bang…Katie and her veil that literally wrapped her up completely! We typically showcase those stunning, elegant veil toss photos…well…this is the reality that sometimes occurs! AND SHE CONTINUED TO SMILE AND STAY STILL! HA! Talk about dedication!

SUBWAY! Subway sandwiches…should we turn this into an advertisement?!

I’ve also received permission to share this one! I was capturing a photo while fixing the dress (to be continued later) and Caroline (previous bride) struck a pose for this!

This theme recurs every year. Hair tugging…veil tugging…it all gets documented. It all gets discarded…except not for this blog! “It’s pulling my hair!”

It always makes me laugh. Zach’s just following the instructions while Madison is all tangled in her veil!

You know you’re attending a Hannah Barlow Photography ceremony with devoted fans and couples when they request a veil or dress tossing photo…not for the photo itself…but for the outtakes of the assistants dashing around!

I DO offer to take part while they capture the photos! Yet they always decline!

…if you didn’t catch the behind-the-scenes blog HERE…2024 was scorching. SO SCORCHING!

It was so scorching…our hair was sticking to us! We’ve NEVER experienced a year like this one! There was no respite!

…pairs even brought their own fans!

THE INSECTS! Oh my goodness, THE INSECTS as well!

Do you think I would be believed if I said I photoshopped out…every single one of those?!

Nonetheless, guests and brides were accepting it! Even within the Porta Potties! Missy actually asked for this picture!

Not only bugs…but flora was on the offensive, too!

Sparklers as well! I found myself saying repeatedly this year…”SEE why this isn’t a splendid idea?!” HA! Kassie just continued to chuckle! Poor Cullen!

THIS GOWN…demanded its own spotlight and with the breeze…it went FLYING! Heat, wind, insects, plants…it all pursued us this year!

…yet even stunning gowns and veils catch..and grasp…and become ensnared. It’s every moment, day in and day out for us, which is anticipated and part of the role!

THIS was an entire MOMENT! Caroline’s gown required adjustment…which was IRONIC…since her sister’s gown also needed alteration in 2018!!!! I retrieved the 2018 photographs of Maddie as a bride from the archives!

Men also face attire dilemmas!! These groomsmen treated their pocket squares with utmost seriousness (and I genuinely appreciate it).

Additional insects…increased perspiration…more gowns in FIELDS!

We’re ALL out there in fields at times too! “You’re just going to have to place your trust in me”! It’s truly worth it! I assure you!

We lounge in fields even before they wilt! Tyler (Tyler Newpol Films) jumped into action without hesitation!

At that very wedding, we even get beneath dresses!!! We had to eliminate the bugs….because…well, heat and fields!!! Jules is like, “WHY and WHAT are you doing?!” Don’t mind ME!

Alright. ALRIGHT! This is amusing (and she’s aware I’m sharing it). Following the initiation of our podcast (What in the Wedding), Ashley (Plans for Perfection) became incredibly close in friendship…so much so that when she exclaimed, “I misplaced my belt…do I look alright?” I simply chuckled and replied, “It seems like you’re in a moo moo” and we laughedddddd and laughedddddd, and now I’m including it in the outtakes blog!

…HOWEVER, despite the moo moo and the lost belt…Ashley takes her responsibilities seriously, and the ceremony must proceed. She IS present in these snapshots (below)! Furthermore, she’s one of the few planners skilled enough to effectively execute her duties while remaining inconspicuous in my photos! Observe that dress billowing?! That’s her!

Indeed. She’s STILL behind there!

…and perpetually smiling! Even in the event of a catastrophe, we maintain our mantra of “everything is fineeeee” and wear our smiles. Surprise twist…the building was NOT ablaze. This wedding (Hey, Cody and Nikki!) was impeccable!

…she’s going to be furious with me! HA! She isn’t grinning here…merely attempting to avoid my photos for the reception’s initial look!

Alright. One last shot before she removes me from her preferred vendor list! Honestly, she’s likely just checking on me here as I take exposure test photos while the couple refreshes…because keep in mind…2024 was SWELTERING!

All is just in love, trial shot combat and nuptials! AAAAAAAAH!!!! Relish in these not-so-glamorous captures of me!

It’s all gooddddddd. You may chuckle! Kassie was giggling at me!

Lacey frequently texts me “adjust your expression” as my neutral face is dreadful. I can ONLY catch her during initial glimpses and ceremonies. She’s all work!

Lauren (Oglebay Weddings) is ALL business as well! Years ago, it became our “tradition” for her to pose for my test exposure captures. It’s effective…she’s already present with the bridal entourage. I’m there awaiting announcements…and she treats this role with utmost seriousness!

…at every event we participate in together!

This year, we collaborated with Penderville Wedding Films! WE ADORE when it’s Lacey and Buddy as our assistants…and they also stand for test images! I had another one but it was deemed R-rated so I’ll refrain from sharing that one!

…and my aides and second shooters have also been instructed to perform test shots too. Therefore, while I’m coordinating the couples, I frequently appear in the photos as well!

AND occasionally we encounter new…
“`vendor companions (Melanie Atmore) and they hop in to join my team for a pose! ADORED this instant!

Shaelyn also posed for a Golden Hour trial shot! It’s FANTASTIC!

…and occasionally it’s simply an ordinary outtake. I’m grooving two images above…Erin (Plans for Perfection) is having a dance below! We often partake in this as well when fatigue begins to set in!

…Kassie and I chuckled alllllll day during her wedding. We appeared serious (finally) in this shot! It must have been significant for Lacey to capture a picture!

Apparently, things were getting serious with Megan and Chris as well!

Justin (Justin Geery Films) gets serious as well. Many times individuals request him to capture images, but “I’m filming…not shooting pictures”. I surmise that’s what’s occurring here!

Enough about that! Let’s return to making new acquaintances and putting ourselves in amusing scenarios!

These individuals were a blast and incredibly enjoyable to collaborate with! They tolerated all our antics AND simply stood by with smiles!

And here’s THIS guy! I’ve likely collaborated with DJ Brian Oliver more than any other supplier. We’re essentially a “team” at this juncture! If hiring us both together instead of a planner suits your budget…you’re all set!

…except I nearly shouted at him in this moment. LORDDDDDDDDDDDDD have mercy! DURING A CEREMONY!

PUT THAT DOWN!

We were truly enjoying ourselves (having a GREAT time) at this wedding. How do I know? Welllllll because we found the time and energy to laugh, smile, and savor every moment! It felt as though we were being observed.

Brian sensed it too…I couldn’t help but chuckle.

Fairly certain this was during the same wedding! Can’t you feel the enthusiasm in these images?!

…however…back to individuals seizing my camera. It became a frequent occurrence this year…and you can spot Justin Geery at the side just filming away!!!! NO

I bet Tyler would have assisted me! He was a fresh vendor we encountered this year and I swiftly included him in the preferred vendor roster! (Tyler Newpol Films)

Other amusing events that occurred this year, the garter and bouquet toss returned! HOWEVER…absolutely no one at any reception desired to catch it! This was the case at other ceremonies too! I simply couldn’t locate the pictures!

Family and sibling photographs were hilarioooous this year too!

I initially believed this was Zach as well…it’s not! Just a visitor hitching a ride!

This groom (Hey, Chris!) paused for a break during the bridesmaid photographs!

Lacey “borrowed” (she didn’t) a security sign. We just required it to be removed for about 15 minutes AND someone was continuously putting it back… so we took it. AND SHE DID return it! We can’t have that in the background of our pictures, however!

Although, Lacey is the master of multitasking! She had photo checklists and a pen up top, and she was ringing the planner while capturing images below!

Erin is performing dual roles as planner AND bridesmaid at Amanda and Noah’s wedding!

…ANDDDD despite this being the final wedding of the year, this is where all the genuine antics will begin in this blog!

More tongues sticking out! HA! That’s also Olivia’s father!

Throughout the year, attendees participated too!! From displaying the centerpiece I was capturing to heel clicks and dancing emerging from the restroom…we experienced it all!

Sam (the final Harrison twin to wed AND RECENTLY ENGAGED)…was without her partner at her sibling’s wedding this summer!

..and at that very wedding, Joey believed his mother was about to poke him!

Justin made a LAST MINUTE indecision…”what should I do with the dog?!” I replied, “I have no idea! What did you rehearse last night?!” and he shot me this expression…which, of course…I photographed!

This groom was showcasing the “wifey” jacket!

I dashed from children…they fled from us!

Children are amusing…but this year’s kids were truly GREAT to capture!

Makeup and nostril hairs…CHECK!

Who could have imagined we’d witness this?!

OR THISSSS…talk about confidence!

…and every wonderful and humorous experience must eventually conclude…

SoOooO DOUBLE THUMBS UP FOR 2024!!!!! My, was it enchanting and remarkable…THE INDIVIDUALS…Wow, the individuals we shared these moments with were fantastic!

Gratitude for ALL these experiences!
