Long Island features an array of specialty boutiques for women, however, men’s stores are considerably less frequent. They are quite uncommon.

D.K. Brothers by Madison’s Niche launched to address a gap in the market — offering not only stylish men’s apparel but also lifestyle products suitable for men.

At the 14-month-old establishment located in Stony Brook Village, shoppers are enthusiastic about having an option “to a big box retailer,” comments store business manager Eric Rectanus. “They mention it quite often, ‘There are no men’s boutiques available.’”

The overall atmosphere of the store is “casual to business casual. We’ve discovered a really appealing blend for all ages,” Rectanus explains. “A 20-year-old doesn’t want to resemble his father, and your dad doesn’t want to dress like a young adult.”

Products available include outer garments, undergarments, and everything else in between, like sweaters and lounge attire. Ralph Lauren and Tommy Bahama are among the popular brands.

Included in the in-store selection are grooming products and accessories. Johnnie-O Surfside Fresh ($78) is a favored fragrance. “It has the scent of a beach day,” Rectanus shares.

The store’s kitchen and home section is a remarkable addition. “Many men are eager to enhance their skills in the kitchen,” he states. Bold Gold Hot Sauce, packaged in eye-catching grenade-style bottles ($16), has received rave reviews from customers.

Barware options include decanters ($34 and above), fish-shaped corkscrews ($18), and stainless steel ice cubes designed to chill beverages without diluting them ($45).

The shop offers a diverse selection of coffee-table books covering topics such as music, national parks, vintage cars, lodgings, and more. The expansive pet aisle has everything from sherpa coats for dogs ($36) to cat toys shaped like birds, carrots, and slices of pizza ($12 each).

“We cater to men,” says Rectanus. “Why not their beloved pets?”
