Samsung is preparing to unveil its Galaxy S25 series, which includes a novel edition to the collection — the Galaxy S25 Slim. Alongside the standard Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 Slim is anticipated to be distinguished by its sleeker and more compact design. As we await Samsung’s official confirmation during the Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored to be on January 22, 2025, a recent leak provides insights into what differentiates the Galaxy S25 Slim.

Reportedly, the Galaxy S25 Slim may incorporate Samsung’s cutting-edge ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) technology for its telephoto camera. This innovation was recently unveiled by Samsung Semiconductor and promises to enable slimmer smartphones without compromising visual quality. According to tipster Jukanlosreve on X, referencing Meritz Securities, ALoP could be pivotal in granting the Galaxy S25 Slim its slender silhouette while still excelling in the camera aspects.

So, what precisely is ALoP? In simple terms, it’s an ingenious configuration for telephoto cameras that aids in minimizing the volume of the camera module. Conventional telephoto cameras use folded optics, which can be cumbersome and lead to significant camera protrusions on the reverse side of phones. ALoP addresses this issue by aligning the telephoto lens flatly along the phone’s plane and employing a 40-degree tilted prism along with a 10-degree tilted sensor. This arrangement not only reduces the camera’s length by approximately 22 percent compared to previous versions but also ensures crisp image capture.

Thanks to ALoP technology, the Galaxy S25 Slim could feature a significantly smaller camera protrusion while retaining excellent zoom functionalities. The device is speculated to include a periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP5 primary sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. This is remarkable for a gadget that’s rumored to sport a 6.66-inch display.

Interestingly, it appears that the Galaxy S25 Slim will possess certain features that even the standard Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will not offer, such as the enhanced telephoto camera. Nevertheless, all four models in the series are expected to launch simultaneously, with speculations indicating that pre-orders will commence on January 24, 2025, with sales starting on February 4, 2025.
