iPhone 17 Base Models Could Get a Taste of ‘ProMotion’ Technology!

Apple is allegedly preparing to implement its ProMotion display technology across the complete iPhone 17 series, as reported by 9To5Google. This initiative could introduce higher refresh rate displays to all variants, considerably improving the scrolling and overall user experience throughout the lineup. At present, ProMotion is restricted to the Pro and Pro Max models, facilitating dynamic refresh rates of up to 120Hz through Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) technology.

In comparison, the regular iPhone variants are confined to a static 60Hz refresh rate. With the iPhone 17 series, even the entry-level models are anticipated to enjoy smoother refresh rates. Nevertheless, Apple is expected to keep a differentiation between its standard and Pro versions.

Apple iPhone 17: Current Insights

Speculations indicate that while the entry-level iPhone 17 models may boast a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, the Pro and Pro Max editions will maintain their superior 120Hz refresh ability. This enhancement for the regular models would still signify a considerable upgrade, reducing the performance disparity between the tiers while retaining the premium features of the Pro series.

This modification demonstrates Apple’s ongoing approach of integrating more sophisticated features into its standard iPhone models. For instance, the iPhone 16 series extended the Action Button, which was formerly exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models, to the entire range. Additional functionalities, such as Apple Intelligence tools and a new Camera Control button, were also standardized across all iPhone 16 devices.

Furthermore, all iPhone 16 models are equipped with the same generation of chipsets, with the Pro models featuring the A18 Pro chip, offering better capabilities compared to the standard A18 chip found in the basic models. The iPhone 17 series is anticipated to persist in this trend of bridging the gap between the Pro and non-Pro models, while still upholding specific distinctions among them.
