YoJALT, along with the Mind, Brain, and Education SIG, is presenting a workshop led by Steve Jugovic. We invite you to participate in this thrilling event!

Overview:

Both students and educators generally juggle numerous responsibilities, academic pressures, and frequently lack recognition of the crucial and interconnected mind-body relationship. This can be clearly seen in classroom settings, manifesting as inattentiveness among sleep-deprived students. Self-sabotaging lifestyle patterns and various dependencies can hinder not only learning but also the fulfillment of short and long-term objectives and overall wellness.

By involving students with targeted topics like sleep, physical activity, exercise, nutrition, hydration, comprehension of stress, and time management, opportunities for introspection and transformation regarding the unconscious decisions made regularly can arise.

Drawing from student feedback, comprehensive studies, and class activities conducted at diverse Japanese universities over the past two decades, the speaker plans to delineate the content, theories of habits, tools, and methodologies utilized. It is hoped that attendees will glean several straightforward strategies relevant to their teaching environments and acquire insights to enhance students’ educational journeys and potentials.
