The coroner has verified that 17-year-old Kamel Seveion Sewell from Simpsonville was fatally injured in the crash. Sewell was employed at the park.

Sewell was driving the go-kart when it struck an industrial forklift, which was also in motion driven by another employee of the park.

On Sunday, the coroner stated that the cause of Sewell’s death was due to blunt-force injury to the head. The manner of death has been classified as accidental.

Frankie’s Fun Park made the following announcement concerning the event:

Seveion had been with Frankie’s for more than a year. At present, Frankie’s is collaborating with both law enforcement and OSHA by providing information and support. Once the details and reasons for the accident are established, further information will be communicated as necessary. It is with profound sadness that we convey this news. Please keep Seveion and his family in your thoughts.” Sewell was an 11th-grade pupil at Fountain Inn High School.

As the day continues, my office has initiated the fact-finding process, focusing on the causation and the involved parties. As this case progresses, updates will follow. At this time, the family requests privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved one.”
