Key Responsibilities
The role of the Photographer is interdisciplinary, offering photographic assistance for Mayo Clinic in both clinical and editorial contexts. Duties include patient photography and videography in surgical, clinical, and research settings. Accountable for event photography and also for image acquisition in a creative capacity from initial concepts to image selection, which necessitates innovative thinking, decision-making, self-drive, and a high degree of technical capability. Works in collaboration with Art Directors, designers, Project Managers, and/or clients to support institutional objectives. Operates both independently and collaboratively in fulfilling responsibilities. Effectively engages with a diverse range of individuals to complete tasks. May be required to assist with light video capture during editorial projects using a DSLR. Provides mentorship to other photographers. Might act as an on-call photographer for medical documentation outside of regular business hours. Must comply with strict confidentiality standards and uphold a high level of professionalism during challenging situations. Evening and weekend availability will be necessary. Travel for assignments will also be expected. The images produced may be featured in internal Mayo publications, intranet and internet sites, external media, and electronic presentations.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Photography or Visual Arts with at least four (4) years of professional photography experience is mandatory; or eight (8) years of pertinent experience. A portfolio is necessary for consideration. Proven expertise at the Associate Photographer level.
Previous experience in medical, scientific, or corporate environments is preferred.
Possess a comprehensive understanding of all current photographic equipment and knowledge in the usage of all photographic formats.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of computer-based photo image enhancement is critical.
A solid grasp of photographic lighting and techniques for studio, outdoor, location, and journalistic scenarios is required.
Ability to deliver and receive concise and clear direction along with problem-solving proficiency.
