BABSON PARK, Mass.—Elina Sung, a senior on the Babson College women’s swimming & diving team (Taichung, Taiwan), was named the Dunn Gaherin’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
This season, Sung has participated in diving competitions at five events, achieving three first-place finishes and two second-place finishes. In a dual meet victory over Clark on November 2, she attained a seasonal best score of 140.30 on the 1-meter board and a personal best of 149.40 on the 3-meter board.
During last year’s NEWMAC Championships, Sung achieved career-high 11-dive scores of 220.65 on the 1-meter board and 228.85 on the 3-meter event. She also recorded her highest six-dive score in the 1-meter event (145.05) against Springfield last February.
Babson (6-3) triumphed over Wesleyan, 146-144, marking its third win in a row last Saturday and will be back in action on January 18 when they face Wheaton at 12 p.m. at Morse Pool.
This award, established in 2020, recognizes junior and senior student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or above.
