TOLEDO, Ohio – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving squad (4-1) secured a road triumph on Friday night against the Toledo Rockets, 187-113, marking the team’s initial dual meet of 2025.
“The coaching staff was pleased with our performance today,” Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh stated. “It was a challenging turnaround with travel, and I believed the team managed it well. We had several athletes compete in different events, so it was refreshing to see some varied event listings for some of them.”
Three student athletes from the Herd claimed victory in two individual events each, with Paige Banton winning the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, Molly Warner emerging victorious in the 200 Freestyle and 400 Individual Medley, and Grace Kelsheimer dominating 1m and 3m Diving.
“Paige (Banton) and Molly (Warner) both had two individual victories this evening. Molly’s time in the 200 Free and 400 IM were her in-season bests,” Walsh remarked.
Marshall also triumphed in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Kseniia Luniushina, Paige Banton, Madeline Hart, Parker Lynch, and in the 200 Freestyle Relay with the trio of Madeline Hart, Audrey West, Parker Lynch, Kseniia Luniushina.
On an individual level, Lauren McNamara clinched the 200 Butterfly, Hart secured the 50 Freestyle, and Luniushina sealed first place in the Backstroke.
“As a group, we showcased a solid performance, but we have a chance to refine several aspects as we approach tomorrow morning,” Walsh said regarding preparation for the upcoming meet at Bowling Green.
