NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men’s and women’s swimming & diving squads commemorated Senior Day in spectacular style on Saturday morning, as the Cadet women triumphed over Elms College, while the Norwich men faced off against each other in the last home competition of the season at Goodyear Pool.

The Norwich women emerged victorious in each and every event of the day, defeating their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rivals, 222-54.

The quartet comprising Kylie Farris (Leander, Texas), Alannah Kelliher (Middleboro, Mass.), Maria Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.), and Kaylin Creel (Huntersville, N.C.) secured Norwich’s first triumph of the day, achieving a time of 2:05.72 in the 200 medley relay. Aleqk Sierra Martinez (Medford, Mass.), Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.), Arthur Abrams (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), and Martin Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) claimed victory against their teammates in the Norwich men’s 200 medley relay event.

Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.) was the initial individual winner for the Cadets, registering a time of 11:50.55 in the 1000 freestyle, followed by Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.) who recorded a time of 10:36.51 in the men’s 1000 freestyle.

Jenna Tschida (Goffstown, N.H.), Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), Deanna Parot (San Diego, Calif.), Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.), Kelliher, Thompson, Piekarczyk, Martin Adlianitski, and Vicente Velasquez (New Windsor, N.Y.) all achieved additional first-place finishes prior to the initial diving event, during which Reilly Laitala (Sterling, Mass.) achieved a score of 188.10 to take first place in the 1 meter 6 optional dive.

Tschida reignited the Norwich momentum, launching a series of victories for herself, Martin Adlianitski, Farris, Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.), Abbey Houghton (Dover, N.H.), Thompson, Lewis, Bylow, Piekarczyk, and Velasquez, before the 1 meter 5 voluntary dive event again yielded another win for Laitala.

Lewis and Abrams completed Norwich’s individual victories in the 200 IM, prior to the Cadets concluding the day with the 200 freestyle relay. Lewis, Tschida, Creel, and Kelliher collaborated for a time of 1:48.49 on the women’s side, while the Adlianitski brothers, Thompson, and Bylow achieved a time of 1:31.82 on the men’s side.

At the onset of the meet, the Cadets acknowledged their seven senior student-athletes, celebrating Creel, Tschida, Abrams, Martin Adlianitski, Jesse Parsons (Williston, Vt.), Sierra Martinez, and Thompson for their remarkable contributions to the program. The seven swimmers have collectively set 14 school records and secured four GNAC Championships throughout their tenure at Norwich University.

The Cadets are scheduled for one more dual competition this season, heading to Plymouth State University on Saturday, Jan. 18, for a 12:00 p.m. encounter.  Norwich will subsequently take a select group of swimmers to the Middlebury Invitational in Middlebury, Vt., on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, before everyone’s focus shifts to the three-day GNAC Championship, to be held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., from Feb. 7 to Feb. 9.
