“D’Oyly Carte’s Enchanting Summer Soirée: A Celebration to Remember”

We acknowledge the remarks made in the media and on social platforms regarding the proposed event at D’Oyly Carte, Weybridge, and we have provided the following statement regarding this issue.

An application was presented for a temporary event notice for the Summer Music Events planned from July 4-6, 2025, at D’Oyly Carte, Weybridge.

However, objections were also received from both the Police and the council’s own Environmental Health Officer, as the applicant failed to provide adequate details to pinpoint the necessary measures to guarantee public safety, such as the restricted access to and from the island and the insufficiency of protection to avert members of the public from falling into the river.

Even though we proposed a meeting with the applicant to discuss and mitigate these issues, no meeting occurred. As a result, we had no alternative but to deny the temporary event license and to move forward with a hearing. This hearing took place on Tuesday, January 7, and the conclusion was made to reject the application based on safety concerns.

The applicant has the option to either contest this decision or collaborate with local Police and Elmbridge Borough Council to address the raised safety issues and subsequently submit a new application for a temporary event notice.

We are dedicated to maintaining the safety and welfare of the public and are amenable to further discussions to resolve these matters.
