(Updated January 14, 2025)

If you are impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, or seeking to assist those in need, our union embodies a community that unites during times of adversity.

Refer to the information below for methods to access emergency assistance or provide resources you can.

ASSIST THOSE IN NEED

CONTRIBUTE

VOLUNTEER

  • If you are keen on volunteering with fellow WGA members in the upcoming weeks and months, please reach out to the Guild.
  • In the interim, the Mutual Aid LA Network has assembled an updated list of volunteering opportunities.

ACCESS SUPPORT

Financial Aid for WGA Members

  • If you have lost your dwelling or have been displaced, get in touch with the Guild. We will link you with the ECF who is overseeing the grant distributions from the Writers Guild Member Fund. These grants are made available through the assistance of fellow Guild members, targeted for those experiencing financial hardship due to housing loss or mandatory evacuation (short-term or long-term).
  • WGAW Good and Welfare Emergency Assistance Loans will be prioritized during this challenging period.
  • Workers in the Entertainment Industry may apply for financial support from the Entertainment Community Fund and the Motion Picture & Television Fund. The application for ECF requires a list of documents to be uploaded. If a document is not available, upload a blank file to proceed with the application.

WGA Member Support – Specific Donation Drive

  • If you have lost your housing or have had to evacuate (either long-term or short-term) and are seeking particular items—children’s apparel, wheelchair, laptop, phone chargers, kitchen utensils, etc., kindly complete this brief Member Support Survey. A group of volunteer coordinators and members will endeavor to match donations to fulfill these requests.

Medication Refills

  • Guild members who have lost their medications and find it “too soon” to refill should contact the PWGA’s Eligibility Department via phone at (818) 846-1015 (press 1, then press 2) or by email. PWGA personnel will manage the necessary adjustments.

Member Work Space at the WGAW, 3rd & Fairfax

  • The Member Lounge is accessible for members to work. Operating Hours: Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Parking is available in the garage off Blackburn Ave. as space permits. Please check with the parking attendant.
