“Dominating the Waves: Swimming Clinches Weekly Awards for the Fifth Time This Season!”

TEMPE – For the second week in a row, the No. 3/14 Sun Devil Swim and Dive team claimed all the swimming accolades during the Big 12 weekly awards revealed by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Olympic medalist Ilya Kharun received his fifth weekly honor from Big 12 this season by triumphing in the 100 fly (44.73) and the 200 fly (1:40.13). Additionally, he completed a 19.08 50 fly leg in the victorious 200 medley relay. He currently possesses the fastest time in the nation for the 200 fly at 1:38.74.

Graduate Jonathon Adam claimed his first-ever weekly acknowledgment after succeeding in both backstroke events in the 100 back (46.29) and the 200 back (1:42.26), both of which were peak times for the season. He shares the honor with Nathaniel Eliason of BYU.

Breaststroke expert Iza Adame received her initial career weekly conference recognition by winning the 100 breast (1:00.22), which is also a seasonal best by just one-hundredth of a second. The senior also seized the 200 breast title in 2:12.40 and contributed to the triumph in the 200 medley relay team with a 27.11 50 breast split.

All-American Caroline Bentz earned her seventh weekly honor from the Big 12 this year, this time recognized as Newcomer of the Week after winning the 50 free (22.23) and the 200 back  (1:54.61) in the victory against No. 23 Minnesota. The Virginia native additionally contributed a 21.39 50 free split in the 200 medley relay and finished as the anchor for the 400 free relay, posting a 48.88 100 free.
