Unleashing Performance: Manthey’s 911 GT3 RS Kit Hits the US Market, Priced Beyond a Cayman GTS!

Manthey Performance has declared that its enhancement kit for the already extraordinarily enhanced Porsche 911 GT3 RS is now available for purchase in the US. This means that for $116,160, you can navigate your chosen track more swiftly than the ‘standard’ GT3 RS proprietors.

Alternatively… y’know, you might keep up with those ‘standard’ GT3 RS owners, while securing a wholly new 4.0-litre Cayman GTS ($99,700). Or almost another entirely new base 911 Carrera ($120,100). We recognize this as a cheeky argument, since GT3 RS owners are unlikely to be making these comparisons.

They’ll be zooming past you on your hapless tourist day at the Nürburgring, racing in a blur of carbon fiber and flat-six sounds before stopping to analyze lap data. Moreover, the installation of the Manthey Kit implies there will be an overload of data to process. As is likely known by now, Manthey’s GT3 RS kit incorporates ‘substantial’ aerodynamic modifications to allow for impressive grip on the track.

This includes a more extensive, carbon fiber-reinforced front lip, altered Gurney flaps for the front arches, and dual dive planes for enhanced front axle downforce. The rear window is ceremoniously discarded, to be replaced by a carbon fiber panel that is 25 percent lighter. A shark fin is added, followed by additional roof fins. A substantial rear diffuser is affixed.

Then comes the massive split DRS rear wing and larger wing-end plates. Overall, Manthey’s modifications contribute 20 percent more downforce compared to what Porsche achieved “with no extra drag,” while at 177mph, this extraordinarily enhanced GT3 RS generates 2,200lbs (approximately a ton) of downforce. “This enables the driver to maintain higher speeds while cornering,” states Porsche.

The suspension has also been fine-tuned – the spring rates have been modified, the dampers receive new valves, and there is an updated control unit to manage everything. The brakes are equipped with braided steel lines to provide enhanced feedback. Prepare your left foot. And your finances.

However, for three grand less, you can upgrade your previous 911 GT2 RS (the 991 model, depicted below), as Manthey’s kit for that starts at $113,140. Similar to the GT3, the GT2 enhancements focus on aerodynamics: front spoiler flaps, a carbon underbody, new front wheel air ducts, a restructured rear spoiler and modified diffuser, and wheel aerodiscs on the rear wheels.

The adjustable dampers can be customized in three ways on the front and four on the rear. Magnesium wheels are lighter, plus there’s an added water tank to spray the intercoolers. Serious business.

Ultimately, this is the most significant aspect. The Manthey kits constitute Serious Modifications for Very Serious Performance Automobiles; vehicles that dismiss trivial comparisons with inferior, 4.0-litre Cayman GTSs or base 911 Carreras.
