ITHACA, N.Y. The Columbia women’s swimming and diving squad secured its inaugural victory of the 2024-25 season on Thursday night, triumphing over the Cornell Big Red with a score of 178-122 in upstate New York. 

“We came to Ithaca ready to put forth an exceptional effort,” Head Coach Diana Caskey stated. “Everyone contributed and we excelled in the meet from beginning to end. It was an impressive performance and the coaches are extremely proud of our women!”

Emily MacDonald and Ashley Hu were the standout performers for the Lions. 

MacDonald claimed victory in three events, including the 100 freestyle where she established a new Cornell pool record with a time of 49.51. She also prevailed in the 50 freestyle (22.81) and 200 freestyle (1:49.33). 

Hu set a new Cornell pool record as well, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.38. She also emerged victorious in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.97. 

For the divers, Macy Pine excelled
