COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri State track and field team secured the 4×400-meter relay title on Friday, concluding the Show-Me Showdown organized by Missouri.

The relay squad comprising Whitney Farrington, BreAna Garret, Meghan Halstead, and Seleena Morris triumphed in the race with a clocking of 3:49.08, marking the swiftest time registered by any MoState team in this indoor season.

Missouri State entered a total of four squads into the competition. During the second heat of the day, the three remaining teams finished strong. Victory Ifah, Katie Griffin, Raegan Foster, and Cheria Galbreath achieved third overall with a timing of 3:57.07. Abby Meyer, Faith Fotiades, Kaitlyn Hatley, and Tommi Martin secured sixth place with a finish of 4:06.45. Lastly, Maliya Clark, Rakiya Lang, Kayleigh Jenkins, and Kamdyn Moody completed the relay with a time of 4:16.44, finishing in eighth place.

Five additional Bears reached the podium. Garrett celebrated her first individual podium finish in her collegiate journey with a runner-up position in the 400-meter dash. The freshman clocked a time of 57.30, a mere .61 seconds behind the leading competitor.

Sophomore Olivia Rogers took second place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.59, while senior Kamdyn Moody finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.14 seconds, achieving a personal best in her initial meet of the season.

Ella Cronhardt achieved a personal best of 4:58.81 with her second-place finish in the mile run. Freshman Maliya Clark concluded the podium finishes with a third-place effort and a jump of 11.43 in the triple jump.

In total, the Bears notched 15 top-five finishes and set 12 personal records.

“It was fantastic to be back competing again today,” head coach Jordan Fife commented. “I believe the team truly appreciated the unique format of the meet, with all the D1 schools from Missouri competing against one another. We highlighted numerous achievements, with 12 personal bests and a victory in the 4×400-meter relay, which is a promising indicator for our first meet after the break. For others, it presented an opportunity to remove the cobwebs and gauge what needs to be addressed in the coming weeks.”

The Bears will not be away from Columbia for too long, as they are set to return to Missouri for the Bob Teel Invitational on January 25.
