PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace women’s swimming and diving team delivered a remarkable performance at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Friday evening. While commemorating senior day, the Setters overcame Vassar College before their home audience, achieving a score of 147-123.

The Setters commenced the competition with Paulina Pereira (13:00.14), Ann Punnoose (13:54.03), and Nataly Ramos-Jorqueda (13:58.03) finishing second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle event.

Building on the Blue and Gold’s solid start, the trio of Eugenia Morossi (1:01.12), Sage Evans (1:07.39), and Alex Sullivan (1:10.66) accumulated valuable points during the 100-yard backstroke.

The first top placement for the Setters came from Sophie Greko in the 100-yard breaststroke with a finishing time of 1:12.36

Aryana Twist achieved a second-place slot in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:27.05

Katherine Kline secured second in the 50-yard freestyle with her season-best time of 25.84. The senior also recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with another seasonal personal best of 55.87.

In the women’s 200-yard backstroke, Morossi clinched first place clocking in at 2:11.10. The freshman also triumphed in the women’s 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.45. To date in the 2024-25 season, this impressive rookie has not been defeated in any backstroke events.

The only Setter diver, Caroline Ranno, dominated both boards, achieving scores of 229.35 in the 1-meter and 201.75 in the 3-meter.

As the meet approached conclusion, Greko maintained her lead at the finish of the 500-yard Freestyle, securing victory for the Setters with a time of 5:21.64, narrowly outpacing the competition by two one-hundredths of a second.

To conclude the evening, the 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Barbosa, Morossi, Greko, and Jean Donlevy, claimed first place with a time of 1:43.30.

With their outstanding performance in the pool, Pace women’s swimming and diving improved to 7-2 overall this season. With one final competition left in the 2024-25 regular season, the Setters are set to focus on Bentley University for an away meeting next Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
