WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving squad celebrated their initial triumph of 2025 by overcoming nonconference rival Providence 188-111 Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center Pool.

This victory enhances the Crusaders’ record to 2-3 for the season, while Providence’s performance slips to 2-3 overall.

The 200-yard medley relay team comprising freshmen Laura Arciniegas, freshman Natalie Neno, sophomore Devin Brindle, and junior Nora Smillie commenced the competition with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:48.86).

Brindle, Smillie, and Anticev each achieved two individual first-place finishes. Brindle secured the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:56.83 and also in the 100-yard butterfly (58.15). Smillie earned first place at 25.00 in the 50-yard freestyle and in the 100-yard freestyle (55.28). Anticev took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:53.65) and in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.77).

Freshman Laura Arciniegas touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.91). Sophomore Megan Nelson achieved a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:11.25. Junior Anisley Nalen (2:08.99) and senior Ginger Berry (2:09.63) finished first and second in the 200-yard backstroke.

In the diving competitions on the one-meter board, freshman Brenna Short (290.10), sophomore Sarah Grady (267.60), and senior Ciara Scamby (262.05) claimed first, second, and third positions respectively. Short (300.60), freshman Addie Jenk (270.98), and Scamby (258.45) enjoyed podium placements in the three-meter dive.

To conclude the meet, Smillie, Brindle, freshman Samantha Schwarting, and Nalen sealed the Crusader victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:40.21.

Holy Cross is set to host Sacred Heart (7-4) for Senior Day on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
