Hawks Soar to New Heights: Three Records Shattered at NDSU as UND Claims Seven Championships!

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota commenced 2025 at the Bison Team Cup on Saturday, concluding the event with seven individual championships, two school records, and one meet record. The Fighting Hawks also achieved eight enhancements on the UND top-10 lists.

Kenna Curry broke her own school record, clinching the shot put title with a throw of 51-8 1/4 (15.75m). Before Saturday’s event, Curry held the record with a mark of 50-6 (15.39m) that she established at the UND Open last season. Currently, Curry’s shot put performance ranks No. 39 in the NCAA for this season.

Curry also secured the weight throw title with a distance of 69-8 (21.23m) early in the meet.

Jerzie Finstad equally broke a school record and triumphed in the 600 meters, clocking in at 1:32.81. She surpassed the previous record held by Heather Harrower, who had a time of 1:32.99 at the 2017 Bison Open.

Earlier in the event, Finstad also equaled the No. 3 time in school history during the 60 meters prelims with a personal record of 7.71.

Nadia Evans won the 200 meters with a time of 24.57, elevating her position to No. 3 in school history. Her time broke the Bison Team Cup meet record. The former record was 24.62, set by Jerayah Davis of Wyoming at the 2019 Bison Team Cup.

Ethan Thomas, recognized as the Summit League Men’s Field Peak Newcomer of the Month in December, secured a pair of titles in the throwing competitions. He won the weight throw event and achieved the No. 5 mark on the UND top-10 list with a throw of 58-8 3/4 (17.90m). Later in the competition, he claimed the shot put title with a throw of 56-6 3/4 (17.24m).

Kimberly Hitchen took the title in the 400 meters, timing in at 58.11.

Emily Ash, Eve Goldstein, and Marta Marksa also marked advancements on the UND top-10 lists during their respective events at the meet.

Ash matched the No. 4 height in program history in pole vaulting with a clearance of 12-5 1/2 (3.80m).

Goldstein improved her No. 4 ranking on the UND top-10 list in shot put with a throw of 48-0 (14.63m).

Marksa made progress to No. 9 in UND history in long jump with a jump of 18-5 (5.61m).

North Dakota is scheduled to visit Brookings on Saturday for the Jim Emmerich Invitational.

* UND recorded eight enhancements to the UND top-10 lists during the meet.

* All in all, the Fighting Hawks featured individuals placing in the top three a total of 16 times on Saturday.
