The Colorado College women’s swimming and diving squad concluded the 26th annual CC Classic on Sunday. The Tigers secured the second position with a total of 946 points, falling short of first-place Western State.

Megan Simonson spearheaded the team on Sunday, triumphing in the 50 freestyle event and anchoring the winning 400 freestyle relay. Additionally, she anchored the 200 medley relay team that achieved a second-place finish.

Team members Adeline Turner, Alyssal Tunggal, and Malia Hewitt collaborated with Simonson in the 200 medley event. Turner also earned the runner-up spot in the 200 freestyle, while Tunggal secured second in the 100 backstroke. Kylie Spalt placed third in both competitions.

Alongside Simonson in the victorious 400 freestyle relay team were Julia Cox, Sarah Buchman, and Grace Ersfeld-O’Brien. Cox finished as the runner-up to Simonson in the 50 freestyle and took seventh in the 100 backstroke. Ersfeld-O’Brien secured the seventh position in the 200 freestyle, while Turner and Buchman achieved fourth and fifth in the 50 freestyle respectively.

“It was an excellent weekend of racing and diving for the squad,” remarked head coach Jen Buffin. “This is one of the most challenging segments of our season before we begin gearing up for championships. Our athletes are consistently stepping into fresh roles, and we observed them competing in numerous events. They demonstrated their fortitude and excelled in both individual races and relays.”

The Tigers will be inactive until they compete at the SCAC Championships in Garland, Texas, from Feb. 12-15.
