Shreveport – The Centenary men’s and women’s swim teams have been acknowledged as Centenary Athletics’ “Team of the Week” after concluding an outstanding weekend with a total score of 242.00, thereby overcoming both Austin College and the University of St. Thomas during a double dual competition held on Saturday afternoon at the Centenary Fitness Center.

The Maroon and White triumphed over the Millsaps College Majors with a cumulative team score of 211-151 in a dual meet on Friday afternoon, where the Gents achieved a decisive victory of 133-49 while the Ladies faced a setback at 102-78. Saturday marked the Ladies and Gents’ final home meet of the season.

Freshman Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) had an exceptional weekend for the Gents, securing five individual victories and participating in two 200-yard medley relay teams. Hedges claimed wins in the 200 IM (2:05.54 & 2:06.46), 100-yard butterfly (56.51 & 55.28), and one victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.50).

Sophomore Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.) maintained her remarkable season this weekend by also achieving five individual wins. Waddell, who has an impressive total of 19 individual victories this season, was also part of the Ladies’ victorious 200-free relay team. The sophomore recorded multiple victories in the 200 IM (2:19.66 & 2:23.30), 100-yard breaststroke (109.89 & 1:11.82), and one win in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.70).

Centenary is set to conclude the season next month at the annual SCAC Championships meet scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Garland, Texas.
