Winter Wonderland: A Snowstorm Transforms Iberville and West Baton Rouge into a Joyful Community Celebration

PLAQUEMINE – Across the Mississippi River, in Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes, the community discovered countless methods to enjoy the snowfall on Tuesday.

The snowstorm did not keep the residents of Plaquemine indoors. Young Ervin mentioned that it’s the very first time he has encountered snow, and he was as astonished by the wintry landscape covering our state as everyone else.

“I feel fantastic, and I am so proud. It’s a miracle because I adore playing in the snow,” Ervin expressed.

Down the street, a family engaged in a snowball skirmish, with plans devised for their assaults.

“You grab the bucket, pack that snow tight, dump it out, form this huge snowball, and bam!,” one relative mentioned.

Over in Port Allen, it turned into an “everything but a sled” gathering for neighbors close to the levee. Kurt Whitman viewed the steep hills as a chance.

“I attempted to figure out what I could utilize, and I have some summer inflatables, so I brought them out here, my kayaks, and my horse, and had a blast, inviting some neighbors to join,” Whitman remarked.

During this remarkable snow event in our region, there’s no need to remain indoors.

“It’s astounding, it’s stunning, the snow continues to fall, it’s packed just right; I believe everyone should seize the opportunity to come out here and enjoy themselves,” Whitman stated.
