FOND DU LAC – A neighborhood parish is celebrating its twenty fifth birthday with a household pageant.
Holy Family Catholic Community, which was fashioned in July 2000 when six parishes merged into one, is internet hosting a three-day occasion to have fun the anniversary.
The parishes that joined collectively 25 years in the past are Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph, Saint Louis, Saint Mary, Saint Patrick and Saint Peter.
The parish now has six church buildings: Holy Family, Our Risen Savior, Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sacred Heart, Saint Mary and Saint Peter.
More than 5,700 households are within the parish. Ryan Pruess, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Community, mentioned: “Looking back over the past 25 years, I am proud of the many ways that our parish has adapted, grown together, helped parishioners to deepen their faith and cared for our neighbors.
“It is a blessing to have the ability to have fun this milestone with such a vibrant parish,” he added.
The festival, which is open to all members of the community, will take place Aug. 15-17 and include food, music and fun activities.
It will start at Avenue 795 with a fish fry from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m. Aug. 15. Dishes such as flatbreads and prime rib sandwiches will be served, and there will be entertainment from the Mike Schneider Polka Band.
Aug. 16, the celebrations will move to the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Center. A French toast breakfast from 8.30 a.m. to noon and a variety of events and activities to entertain people of all ages is planned.
Alongside the selection of food and drinks, a number of inflatables, a balloon twister and horse-drawn wagon rides will be included. The festival will also feature live music from bands such as the Lighthouse Big Band and Cat 5.
The festival will end at 5 p.m. Aug. 17 after a full day of food and music. The day will begin with the “pageant custom” of a bilingual mass at 10 a.m., followed by music from Dorf Kapelle, the Zoomalata Comedy Show and Mariachi de Sol Madison.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can support the Holy Family Warming Shelter by participating in a leaf fundraiser, which involves buying a “leaf” for $35 to fund a guest’s stay.
“While we’re celebrating the twenty fifth anniversary of our parish, we’re actually celebrating the enduring Catholic religion as properly,” Pruess said. “The Catholic Church has been current in Fond du Lac for so long as it has been a metropolis, and we can’t wait to welcome the entire neighborhood to have fun with us over what is bound to be an unimaginable weekend.”
