MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Summer is winding down, and meaning fall is about to take middle stage at two of Dane County’s hottest family-run farms.

On Sunday, Schuster’s Farm in Deerfield wrapped up its flower season — closing for about three weeks earlier than reopening with pumpkins, corn mazes and its well-known haunted forest.

“Today is our last day of our flower season… now we’ll close for about three weeks to do a whole shift changeover on the farm,” Director of Marketing and Food Service Sarah Schuster stated.

The Schuster household has run the farm for greater than 30 years, and Sarah stated the autumn season is the busiest time of yr.

“Lots of awesome photo ops coming up this year… and of course our pumpkin patch — fall is our bread and butter,” she stated.

“Yeah, the apples are coming on a little bit earlier than planned. We’re talking about picking as soon as this coming weekend,” Eugster stated.

He added that cooler climate this week has already shifted guests into fall mode.

“Fall is just busy because everyone wants to get out on that most gorgeous 60- or 70-degree day… but that’s what we love,” he stated.

Eugster’s fall season consists of apple and pumpkin choosing, corn mazes, wagon rides and a petting zoo — with Orchard Days formally starting Sept. 13.
